The story behind my Quest for the Prix
By Victoria Waters

Not everyone picks their destiny, sometimes it is delivered to you.
The authors daughter Nicole, shown at 6, had to stop
riding for two years

Let me explain.

I had put my daughter Nicole’s riding lessons on hold for two years when I started my business. I did not have the time to drive her to where she had been taking lessons, it was too far. This was heartbreaking to me as I was living my dream of riding vicariously through her. So although Nicole being so young didn’t seem to mind so much, it bummed me out big time.

This led me to put out a call to the universe. “Universe,” I said,” please bring a stable close by so that I can put my daughter back into a riding program and perhaps even ride myself. Please?”

So there it was, asked.

I continued to move about my life, launched my business to some early success and before you knew it a few years had gone by.

But the Universe had not forgotten about me nor my request, for the next thing I knew a stable was being built nearly across the street from where I live. A trainer and his family had purchased the property and WALLAH, I had my riding stable.

Thank you, Universe!

Given that it was so close to my house, I took this as an added sign that I was supposed to start riding too. No excuses.

So I jumped into a riding program right alongside my daughter. It was literally a dream come true.

Not long thereafter, I was encouraged to go to a horse show called the Fidelity Classic. Now this was not just any horse show, it had a Grand Prix competition. For those of you unfamiliar, it means the riders jump really big fences. This sounded like fun, so my daughter and I made the hour trip to the show, singing along to Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift the whole way.

Once there, watching the riders catapult over those enormous fences made me for some totally inexplicable reason say to myself, I want to do that too. So there you have it, the Prix is my goal and this blog details my journey in getting there.  I hope you will join me in my Quest and that mine will inspire you to begin your own.
