It is 7 AM, Wednesday morning, February, 5th 2014. I am in my living room, sitting in my favorite chair while drinking my coffee and watching the snow fall – it is quite beautiful.
It is really coming down, which means no lesson today.
This is the third big storm this winter and with it no school. My kids are still nestled in their beds at a time when they would normally be sitting in class. The quite solitude of their sleep is further enhanced by the stillness of the dropping flakes, broken only by the subtle whirring of my laptop.
I begin to tap away at the keys.
It has been too long since I have written, with my horse on field rest and me not able to ride due to a latent injury there was just not much to write about. But with the start of the New Year, that has all changed. My health is now 100% and my horse, Jaliska’s, is nearly there too. Feeling the best I have in over two years, I have lofty goals for this season (go figure) and with them, am really excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.
I believe 2014 is going to be the most difficult, fun and rewarding year of my riding life. I hope you will come along for the ride and give me advice, motivation and inspiration in my continued Quest for the Prix.
